American M1A1SA Abrams tanks consume too much fuel compared to Russian T-8BVМs. This was reported by the Western publication Military Watch Magazine (MWM).
They recalled that the Abrams weighs approximately 50% more than the T-80, and, accordingly, its fuel consumption is significantly higher than that of other vehicles.
This has long been considered a major drawback that could prevent the tank from being used in the event of a protracted conflict with an equal adversary.
The T-80BVМ tank is equipped with a GTD-1250 gas turbine engine with a power of 1250 hp. It gives the vehicle a high power-to-weight ratio, and during modernization it undergoes repair and maintenance, and its service life is extended.
The standard Arena-M onboard protection system includes a radar station (RLS) with high noise immunity, special ammunition in the mines around the perimeter of the tank turret, and an onboard computer.
The radar detects an enemy projectile, anti-tank missile, or grenade aimed at the tank, calculates their trajectory, and fires a protective munition that destroys the target in flight with a beam of damaging elements.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Uralvagonzavod announced an all-Russian vote for a new name for the BMPT Terminator.
