"Rosatom" has shipped equipment for the safety system of power unit No. 4 of the "Xudapu" NPP in China. This was reported by the press service of the state corporation.
The emergency core cooling system (ECCS) tank is a thick-walled cylindrical high-pressure vessel made of two-layer clad steel. The weight of one tank is 80 tons, the diameter is more than 3 meters, and the volume is 60 cubic meters (equivalent to five tanker trucks).
The equipment is designed for automatic supply of liquid to the reactor (may be required if the pressure in the primary circuit drops). The solemn shipment ceremony became one of the central events of the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the plant's foundation.
The safety system kit for one NPP power unit includes four tanks, and the last of them will be shipped by the end of June 2025.
The "Xudapu" NPP is being built in China according to the Rosatom project. In accordance with the contracts, the Russian side is designing the "nuclear island" of the NPP and supplying key equipment for both power units.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Rosatom started construction of a floating pumping station.
