New Lada models from 2023-2024 have been found to have power steering issues. The steering on these cars "cracks, jams, and stops listening".
The cause of the malfunctions is the use of plastic bearings instead of metal ones. The problem was discovered by a car mechanic who received five Lada cars for repair. In one of the cars, a broken plastic bearing was immediately found.
In a year or two, it crumbles, the lubricant disappears, the shaft becomes skewed, shavings appear, the motor is overloaded - and the steering "dies".
One of the Russian car dealers confirmed the presence of a defect and promised that high-quality parts would be installed on new cars. At the same time, AvtoVAZ claims that these are isolated cases, and plastic bearing failures are not reflected in the factory statistics.
The reason is seen in a software failure during a too-fast engine restart. They advise reading the instructions: before restarting the engine, pause for at least 5 seconds. The factory has almost completed the firmware that will reduce this interval.
Recently, one of the owners of Lada Vestafaced the steering wheel locking at a speed of 66 km/h.
