In May 2025, 91.2 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 28.3% less than in May 2024. Then sales amounted to 127.2 thousand units. This is reported by experts of the Autostat agency.
At the end of spring, the car market fell below the 100,000 mark for the first time, after it reached the level of 102.1 thousand cars in April. The 10.7% decrease in May sales compared to April is due to the smaller number of working days: there were 18 in May, and 22 in April.
More than 60% of all cars sold in May were accounted for by five brands. The sales leader remains the domestic LADA, which sold 25.6 thousand units of cars. The top five popular brands also included Chinese manufacturers: Haval (10.6 thousand), Chery (9.8 thousand), Geely (6.3 thousand) and Changan (5.6 thousand).
In the first five months of 2025, 440.3 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 26% less compared to the same period in 2024.
