Russian can manufacturer recovers 7.5 million euros from Austrian company

The plant did not receive the prepaid products from Europe and secured a refund of the advance payment

Silgan Metal Packaging Enem, from the Adygea village of Enem, has won a case against the Austrian company Silgan Holdings Austria to recover the advance payment made for tinplate for the production of metal food packaging.

In a decision dated May 30, the Arbitration Court of the Republic of Adygea recognized the Russian side's claims as legitimate and granted the claim in full. Now the Austrian side must return the debt with interest — about 7.5 million euros.

At the time of the transaction in October 2022, 100% of the authorized capital of Silgan Metal Packaging Enem belonged to a company within the Silgan holding, Silgan Metal Packaging Mietterdorf GMBH. After receiving the advance payment under the contract, the funds of the Russian structure were blocked in the EU.
