The Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources (Rosprirodnadzor) has filed lawsuits against the owners of the tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" that sank in the Black Sea, who did not compensate for environmental damage voluntarily. This is reported by the press service of the department.
We are entering the judicial process, since the legal deadlines for independent fulfillment of our requirements have expired.
The total amount of claims amounted to more than 84.9 billion rubles. In particular, the amount of calculated damage in relation to Kama Shipping LLC (charterer of the tanker "Volgoneft-212") and Kamatransoil LLC (owner of the vessel) is 49,460,085,849 rubles. At the same time, the amount of damage to be compensated by Volgatransneft CJSC (owner of the tanker "Volgoneft-239") is 35,483,862,830 rubles.
The tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" crashed on December 15, 2024 in the Kerch Strait, which led to an oil spill into the sea. According to the Ministry of Transport, about 2.4 thousand tons of fuel oil entered the water as a result of the incident. Rosprirodnadzor estimated the damage from the spill at almost 85 billion rubles and made claims to Volgatransneft CJSC and Kama Shipping LLC. At the same time, Kama Shipping claims that it is only the charterer of the vessel Volgoneft-212, and its owner is Kamatransoil LLC.
