KamAZ has for the first time presented a prototype of the NefAZ-5299 bus, equipped with a domestic 9-speed automatic transmission from Aurus. The prototype was demonstrated to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov.
The new transmission works better than the Chinese 6-speed Fast Gear gearbox, the "jerky" operation of which was previously complained about by carriers.
Until 2022, Russian buses were equipped with German ZF and Voith transmissions, then manufacturers switched to the anti-sanction Fast Gear, and now it is planned to replace Chinese gearboxes with a domestic "automatic."
On the experienced prototype NefAZ-5299, the automatic transmission works in conjunction with a KamAZ-667 diesel engine (formerly known as Cummins). This 6-cylinder engine with a volume of 6.7 liters develops a power of 307 hp and a torque of 1200 Nm.
Earlier www1.ru reported that KamAZ showed a long-haul tractor KamAZ-54901 with manual control.
