KamAZ presented a demonstration truck KamAZ-54901 with manual control. The model is equipped with a manipulator chair designed for people with disabilities.
The novelty lacks pedals. The truck is controlled by the steering wheel. For ease of boarding into the high cab of the truck, a special device is provided. A beam with a fixed seat extends from the passenger side of the cabin.
The mechanism is controlled from the remote control, and the process itself takes only a few seconds. The seat leaves the cab, and then is lowered down with a lift, allowing a person to move from a wheelchair directly into the truck cab.
KamAZ is confident that such solutions will be in demand, as they greatly facilitate access to truck control for people with disabilities.
