Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that during his visit to Moscow on May 26-27, he discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin the financing of the construction of Turkey's first nuclear power plant, Akkuyu NPP.
There are sanctions and some problems arising from this. We are a country that exports industrial products, we need energy. The more electricity we have, the cheaper it will be, the more competitive we can be.
Akkuyu NPP consists of four power units with Russian-designed VVER generation "3+" reactors. The project is being implemented by Rosatom.
Each power unit will have a capacity of 1,200 MW. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan previously stated that test production of electricity at the first power unit of Akkuyu NPP is scheduled for the end of this year.
