The head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, announced a possible phased restriction of foreign cloud services in Russia if they have mature domestic counterparts. This proposal was made at the IT summit in Moscow and is related to the development of Russian technological solutions.
Shadayev noted that the Russian IT industry is developing rapidly, and in the face of economic challenges, it is important to stimulate demand for local products.
The President said – we will strangle them. In general, I would consider this in a broader context. It is clear that our industry is developing very rapidly.
Shadayev emphasized that the Russian economy is going through difficult times, which is confirmed by the key rate level and the reduction of IT budgets by many large customers. In this regard, in his opinion, it is necessary to analyze the possibility of additional stimulation of demand for domestic IT solutions.
Our approach is this: in large corporations, you can think about some phased restriction of the use of foreign cloud services where there are mature Russian counterparts.
At the moment, Russia has several services that could replace foreign ones.
