Почти готов: российский электромобиль «Атом», разрабатываемый с 2022 года, прошёл предсерийный тест-драйв

Journalists assessed comfort, dynamics and interface before the start of mass production

The pre-production electric car "Atom" passed a test drive on the track of the Center for Technical Sports. The project team checked the compliance of the components with the project, tested the interaction of systems and assessed the readiness of production for scaling. "Atom" is scheduled to be launched into mass production in the second half of 2025. It accelerates to 100 km/h in 8 seconds and has a range of up to 500 km.

Journalists were given the opportunity to test the almost final version of the electric car for the first time. The presented prototype — PSC (Pre-Production Series Car) — almost completely corresponds to the serial version, but is assembled using individual technology. It is tested in laboratories, at test sites and roads, including software settings.

The interior partially consists of temporary elements, and the control is focused on the steering wheel with a display and several physical buttons. The absence of familiar levers and control panel is compensated by a laconic interface. Among the features are electric swing doors and "gear" buttons on the central panel.

"Durov's Code" writes that during the test drive, "Atom" showed comfortable driving with good dynamics and instant response, although the brake needs to be improved. The trunk is compact — more suitable for the urban format.

Since the start of the project in 2021, "Atom" has gone through a demonstration show car, a digital twin and a series of prototypes. The first modular platform for electric vehicles in Russia was created, allowing adapting the design to different tasks. The team manufactured 13 technical prototypes, tested them on roads and stands, including HIL.

After the functional prototypes, an ergonomic model "Beryozka" appeared, which allowed to refine the interior and user experience. Verification machines of the VC series are already being assembled using target components and according to factory processes — on the same equipment where mass assembly will take place.

The next stage will be the release of the PT (Process Trial) series — to check all production operations, train personnel and debug logistics. The car has been developed since 2022. Mass production will start before the end of 2025.
