The holding company "Russian Space Systems" (RCS, part of Roscosmos) and Bauman Moscow State Technical University signed a cooperation agreement on the development and production of small CubeSat satellites. The project plans to create about 100 spacecraft with a size of 6U (340x226x100 mm), which will effectively accommodate scientific and commercial payloads.
RCS is an important industrial partner for Bauman Moscow State Technical University. In our joint work, we aim to integrate CubeSats into the infrastructure of the domestic rocket and space industry. Data from small spacecraft created by our university is already поступают в RCS Scientific Center for Operational Monitoring of the Earth. We face the task of scaling this experience, expanding the volume of space data provided, and launching the production of devices at RCS facilities.
The CubeSat platform developed at Bauman Moscow State Technical University will be the basis for the satellites. These devices are compact and have a modular design, making them suitable for educational, research, and commercial missions. The partners will also be involved in the creation of specialized equipment: optical systems, meteorological equipment, repeaters, and navigation devices. The joint project will expand the capabilities of domestic satellite constellations.
In the future, such devices can be used for Earth monitoring, testing new technologies in orbit, and supporting scientific experiments.
