A rare Russian Derways Cowboy SUV from 2004 has appeared for sale on Авто.ру. This car is part of a small batch produced at a factory in Karachay-Cherkessia in the mid-2000s. For 450 thousand rubles, the buyer is offered an all-wheel drive model with a ZMZ-409 engine (about 145 hp), a mechanical gearbox from UAZ and a mileage of 133 thousand km.
Derways Cowboy was created on the basis of the Romanian ARO 24, but with an original body and a design adapted to Russian conditions. Unlike the prototype, the Cowboy received a new interior with domestic components and an alternative engine range. However, the project was closed due to the bankruptcy of ARO, which supplied the chassis, leaving behind only a few hundred copies.
The Cowboy being sold is equipped with:
- All-wheel drive with a downshift and differential lock;
- Power bumper and towbar for increased cross-country ability;
- Power steering and power windows;
- BFGoodrich off-road tires;
The air conditioner has been dismantled, and the condition of the cabin remains a mystery — there are no photos of the interior in the ad.
