The General Director of Roscosmos, Dmitry Bakanov, announced the development of the Russian low-orbit satellite constellation " рассвет ", which will become an alternative to the Starlink system from SpaceX. The project is being implemented by "Бюро 1440" as part of the national space program and is already demonstrating initial successes.
New products that have appeared: first of all, we will give our answer to Starlink. With the " рассвет " project, "Бюро 1440" will also have low-orbit broadband communications. We will give the drone market increased accuracy — up to two and a half meters "Глонасс".
" рассвет " is positioned as a broadband Internet access system capable of providing communication in remote regions of Russia. Unlike geostationary satellites, a low-orbit constellation will reduce signal delays, which is critical for modern services, including video communications and IoT devices. In addition to Internet coverage, " рассвет " can be integrated with other initiatives, such as a navigation system for drones and the "Cosmic Atom" project, which involves the construction of a lunar power plant.
