New safe painkillers created at PNRPU

Domestic drugs have minimal toxicity

Scientists from Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU) have developed a new class of painkillers. Organic compounds have a pronounced analgesic effect and minimal toxicity. The new drugs double the time to the onset of a pain response compared to the control group.

In toxicity testing, the compounds were classified as Class IV, meaning they are practically non-toxic. Even at high doses (1500 mg/kg), they did not cause animal deaths in tests. In the future, these compounds can be used to create safe analgesics.

Of greatest interest are derivatives of 3-imino(hydrazono)furan-2(3H). The substances are easy to synthesize and have high chemical activity. They demonstrate a wide range of biological activities, including anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial.

In collaboration with other research institutions, scientists synthesized a new class of compounds — N-alkyl-4-aryl-2-aroylhydrazinylidene-4-oxobutanamides, which could form the basis for the development of new drugs with minimal side effects.
