Russian military personnel destroyed an American-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) with a missile strike from the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system (OTRK). This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The launch of rockets from the MLRS was captured by the Forpost reconnaissance drone. Immediately after that, the Iskander-M unit launched a missile strike on the launcher.
The Iskander-M's ammunition range includes concrete-piercing, high-explosive fragmentation, incendiary, and cluster charges. The missiles are mainly guided to the target via a satellite system, with a homing head operating in the final section.
The Iskander-M is used by the military to destroy enemy air defense systems, as well as other critical facilities at a maximum range of up to 500 km.
The Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA) presented a new version of the Forpost drone in early 2025, equipped with a radar for monitoring enemy objects and providing target designation.
Main tactical and technical characteristics of the Forpost UAV:
- Application range when using a directional antenna — 250 km, when using an omnidirectional antenna — 150 km
- Takeoff weight — 454 kg
- Fuel tank capacity — 142 l
- Flight speed: cruising — 111 km/h, maximum — up to 220 km/h
- Practical ceiling — 5797 m
