On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, traffic in Moscow will be temporarily restricted due to preparations for the Victory Day Parade. The changes will affect the central streets of the city and will take effect from early morning.
From 5:30 AM until the end of the events, traffic will be closed on Tverskaya Street, 1st Tverskaya-Yamskaya Street, and Mokhovaya Street. Okhotny Ryad, Balchug, Bolotnaya, Bolshaya Nikitskaya, Sadovnicheskaya, Solyanka, and Petrovka streets will also be closed. It will be impossible to drive along the central embankments, including Moskvoretskaya, Kremlyovskaya, Goncharnaya, Kotelnicheskaya, Ustinskaya, Podgorskaya, Sofiyskaya, Raushskaya, Bolotnaya, Sadovnicheskaya, and Kadashyovskaya.
From 10:00 AM until the end of the events, traffic will be restricted on Tverskoy and Strastnoy Boulevards (from Tverskaya Street to Naryshkinsky Proezd), as well as in Bolshoy Putinkovsky Lane on the section from Malaya Dmitrovka to Tverskaya. Parking will be prohibited here until 1:00 PM on May 9.
Additional restrictions from 10:00 AM on May 7 will affect Bolshoy and Maly Kamenny Bridges, Vozdvizhenka, Sadovaya-Kudrinskaya, Bolshaya Sadovaya, Sadovaya-Triumfalnaya, 1st and 2nd Brestskaya, Sadovaya-Karetnaya, Sadovaya-Spasskaya, Sadovaya-Chernogryazskaya, Marksistskaya, Bolshaya Polyanka, Novy Arbat, and Zemlyanoy Val streets. Traffic will also be blocked on Volgogradsky Prospekt from Abelmanovskaya to Lyublinskaya Street, as well as in Oruzheyny Lane, Proektiruemy Proezd No. 3502, and Shosseyny Proezd. Parking on these streets will also be prohibited until 1:00 PM on May 9.
In addition, from 5:00 AM on May 7, underground pedestrian crossings will be temporarily closed in the Central Administrative District and the Southeastern Administrative District. Restrictions will be introduced on sections of Volgogradsky Prospekt, the Garden Ring, and Tverskaya Street. On the section of the Garden Ring from Mayakovskaya metro station to Novy Arbat Street and on Novy Arbat itself, the crossings will be inaccessible from 10:00 AM until the end of the events.
The Traffic Management Center urges citizens to avoid using personal transport on May 7 and to use the metro to avoid traffic jams. An increase in traffic is expected due to the long weekend, the possible arrival of foreign delegations, road repairs, and minor accidents.
It is also worth considering restrictions at some metro stations. From 5:30 AM until the end of the closures, the stations Ploshchad Revolyutsii, Okhotny Ryad, Teatralnaya, Alexandrovsky Sad, Borovitskaya, and Arbatskaya on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line will only be open for entry and transfer. Biblioteka im. Lenina station will only be open for transfer. Additional situational restrictions may be imposed at other stations during the day at the request of the police. Passengers are advised to be careful and follow the rules of using the metro.
In addition, the media reports that all cafes and shops along the route of military equipment will be closed in the center for the first time. The restrictions will affect Tverskaya Street, part of the Garden Ring, and Novy Arbat. They have already come into force and will last until 2:00 PM on May 7 and from 10:00 PM on May 8 to 2:00 PM on May 9.
