Russians can now make purchases in India without the need to use international cards. This opportunity is available to tourists from Russia thanks to the UPI One World virtual wallet.
To register in the UPI One World system, it is sufficient to have a passport and a valid visa. There is no need to open an account with an Indian bank.
The payment process is simple: upon arrival in India, tourists can exchange currency at certified points. Employees will help them install the application and activate the wallet. Payment is made via QR codes, which are accepted in most places, including shops, taxis and street stalls. The wallet can be replenished with cash or by transfer from an Indian card. The remaining funds can be withdrawn when leaving the country.
Partnership with well-known Indian banks and fintech companies makes the system accessible and convenient. India is effectively offering Russians an alternative to Visa and Mastercard, without requiring additional agreements.
