Operators of Molniya fixed-wing drones have begun decorating the UAVs with red stars ahead of the 80th anniversary of Victory.
A fighter with the call sign Panda noted that the idea came by analogy with the legendary Il-2 attack aircraft, which in its initial modifications also did not have a rear firing point, which made the structure of the aircraft visually resemble a hump, the same one that the Molniyas have.
The tradition of decorating combat aircraft with stars has existed for a long time. And since our drones are just fixed-wing type and even visually similar to the Il-2, we decided to make them red on the eve of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War - as a symbol of continuity and a tribute to our ancestors.
In contrast to its predecessor, the Molniya-1, the Molniya-2 drone can carry a warhead of up to 6 kg, and the flight range has also been increased.
A group of operators can provide up to six sorties a day. The crew consists of three fighters - a pilot, a loader and a sapper. The range of the strike drone is up to 50 km. The plastic and aluminum construction makes the drone difficult to detect for air defense systems.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian strike unmanned boats will be armed with Skvorets-VMF kamikaze drones.
