WhatsApp says goodbye to iPhone 5s and 6: messenger will stop working on old "apple" devices from May 5

The messenger will no longer work on devices with iOS lower than 15.1

From May 5, 2025, WhatsApp will no longer support iPhones with operating systems below iOS 15.1. This means that owners of older models, such as iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, will no longer be able to use the application.

The restriction applies to devices that do not support updating to iOS 15.1 or higher. These include iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. These models were released in 2013 and 2014 and have not received updates from Apple for a long time.

If your device is one of the above models, you have several options. First, you can update iOS. If your device supports updating to iOS 15.1 or higher, do so through settings.

From January 1, 2025, WhatsApp also stopped supporting Android devices with versions below 5.0.
