theBratans, a small Russian development team that created the game "Rus vs. Lizards 2," shared details about the project. The sequel, released in 2025, recouped its production costs in just one month, despite the price of 333 rubles—ten times higher than the first part. According to studio co-founder Daniil Kosachev, five people worked on the project, and the total revenue allowed them to keep the team together and start developing new games.
The first part of the game, released in 2023, sold 750,000 copies with a cost of 60,000 rubles. The main revenue came from Steam, where the platform's commission and taxes leave the studio with only 40% of sales. The second part, although selling slower due to the increased price, has already generated enough funds to cover expenses. On the Russian platform VK Play, the commission is 5%, which makes it more profitable, but sales volumes there are currently 20–30 times lower.
Despite the success, the developers are cautious about spending. Most of the profit from the first part was invested in the sequel, and current revenues allow them to maintain the team for 1–2 years. Currently, theBratans are testing prototypes of new projects, but details are not disclosed. Kosachev emphasized that the studio does not plan to move abroad, even in the event of a multiple increase in profits: "We love our country and want to develop the gaming industry here."
