Russia is preparing for new launches of spacecraft to the Moon in 2027-2028, but China refused to transfer technology and finance the Russian lunar program. The Russian side continues to receive only scientific data.
The head of the Institute of Space Policy, Ivan Moiseev, commented on the fact that China does not transfer technology to Russia and does not invest in the lunar program. Moiseev called cooperation with China purely political.
As for China, it received a lot of technology from us, but it does not transfer its own technology, nor does it invest. This is politically beneficial for us.
According to Moiseev, Russia plans to send the Luna-26 and Luna-29 orbital spacecraft to the Moon, as well as several landing modules. Among them are Luna-27 No. 1 and No. 2, Luna-28 and Luna-30. In parallel with this, Russia and China will build the International Lunar Station, which has already been joined by 13 foreign partners. The project involves installing a power plant on the surface of the Moon.
The errors during the launch of Luna-25 have been analyzed, there were gross errors. I hope this will all be taken into account. Fortunately, with each accident, reliability increases. As they say, one unsuccessful launch brings more benefit than ten successful ones. The chances of success are now higher, these stations should not land, they only go into orbit. And landing is the most difficult moment.
According to Moiseev, the International Lunar Station project still looks uncertain and is more of a collection of tasks previously formulated by Russia and China than a clear plan of action. Currently, cooperation with China in the lunar program is limited to the installation of Russian instruments on Chinese stations, which is a common practice in scientific research.
Earlier www1 wrote that the failed launch of Luna-25 in August 2023 cost Russia 12 billion rubles. The device became the first Russian expedition to Earth's satellite in almost half a century, but, unfortunately, collided with the surface of the Moon.
