The Russian "Starling-Navy" kamikaze drone will be modernized for launch from unmanned boats (BEC). The decision to create a unified complex was made at a technical council on the development of marine unmanned systems under the chairmanship of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseev.
The strike drone with a range of up to 10 km is capable of carrying up to 1.5 kg of payload. The speed of the device is up to 150 km/h. The "Starling-Navy" is controlled by an operator in real time via specialized radio communication channels with the possibility of retransmission. In the future, satellite command transmission may be implemented.
For installation on marine platforms, vibration-resistant mounts with automatic opening at start and a reinforced power system with the possibility of quick recharging from the BEC's onboard system were integrated into the drone's design.
"The "Starling-Navy" UAV will be launched directly from the BEC and act as a strike element or remote scout. The drone will move to a distance of 5–10 km from the boat and conduct target reconnaissance. Upon its detection, the operator will direct the UAV to the target. It can be equipped with various types of combat load, including fragmentation or cumulative ammunition.
