Robot driver could simplify the transition to unmanned transport in Russia

Deputy Head of EvoCargo: We need to develop "smart" cars and build "smart" roads

Special robots could drive cars and become an alternative to the development of unmanned transport. This was stated by Alexey Nashchekin, General Director of the Telematics concern, at the TRANS AI 2025 conference in Skolkovo.

According to Nashchekin, we should not rebuild the world where all the infrastructure is created for humans. Creating robot drivers will take less time than developing unmanned vehicles.

We can quickly develop software for autonomous transport, but the car production cycle takes 3-4 years - during this time, technologies become obsolete.
Alexey Nashchekin, General Director of Telematics

Dmitry Kulikov, Deputy Director of EvoCargo LLC, also took part in the discussion. He highlighted 2 directions of the evolution of autonomous transport: the development of "smart" cars and the construction of "smart" roads that will control them.

An alternative approach implies that the infrastructure itself is saturated with sensors and communication facilities, therefore it "sees" all traffic.
Dmitry Kulikov, Deputy Director of EvoCargo LLC

Kulikov called a synthesis of two directions a reasonable approach: transport is becoming "smarter", and infrastructure is being digitalized. As a result, the system becomes safer, since the car and the road "complement each other".
