VCIOM Conducted a Survey on the Impact of AI on the Quality of Education

Almost half of the country's residents (46%) believe that the use of artificial intelligence in education will reduce the quality of knowledge, according to a VCIOM survey.

Another 46% allow its limited use, and 10% of families already use neural networks to complete homework. The main concerns are related to the risk of reducing mental activity and memorizing erroneous data.

Experts compare AI to a calculator — a tool that does not replace thinking but requires competent use. Anton Zakharov, Deputy Director of the Moscow Creative College, noted that language models are capable of solving standard tasks, but their uncontrolled use deprives students of the opportunity to deeply assimilate the material. Errors are possible both from algorithms and teachers, which emphasizes the need to develop critical analysis of information.

Sergey Karaev, Head of the IT Department at the "New View" school, pointed out the dual role of AI: technologies help overcome the "fear of a blank sheet," but provoke the temptation to delegate tasks to algorithms. In his opinion, teachers should master neural networks themselves in order to guide students and form clear rules for their use — for example, allow use only for drafts or hypothesis testing.
