The Kaluga AGR plant (formerly a Volkswagen enterprise) will increase its car production this year. It is planned to produce 112 thousand cars. This was announced by the governor of the region, Vladislav Shapsha. The plant will assemble cars under the Tenet brand.
It belongs to Chery. Under this brand, according to insiders, Chery Tiggo 7 Plus and Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max cars will be assembled at the enterprise. Presumably, the Tenet crossovers will differ from the original Chinese cars only in the nameplate. First, large-unit assembly is planned, followed by an increase in the level of localization.
Governor Shapsha also said that the production of Haval M6 cars has started at the former PSMA RUS plant, owned by Automotive Technologies. The company will weld and paint bodies. About 25 thousand cars will roll off the assembly line of this enterprise by the end of the year. Recall that Automotive Technologies also assembles Citroen C5 Aircross crossovers.
Thus, the total output of cars at the two Kaluga plants will amount to more than 137 thousand units per year, which indicates the restoration and development of the automotive industry in the region.
