The Russian military has begun to receive Mockingbird repeater drones, which can be used to increase the combat range of a strike or reconnaissance drone, as well as increase the stealth of the operators' position.
The Stratim design bureau explained that this will make it difficult to determine the location of UAV crews and help avoid retaliatory strikes.
The Mockingbird drones hover at a height of 100-150 m above one point, which helps to confidently relay the signal even without the help of global navigation satellite systems (GNSS).
Thus, the devices provide signal amplification at distances of more than 5 km in urban environments and more than 10 km in open areas. Flight time is 40 minutes.
