In March 2025, Russian dealers sold 1,555 new Solaris brand cars, which is almost ten times higher than last year's figures. This leap allowed the brand to enter the top 10 best-selling brands in the domestic market for the first time, according to the AUTOSTAT agency.
The sharp increase is due to the arrival of updated Solaris KRS and Solaris KRX 2025 models in showrooms, which users have been waiting for since autumn. The manufacturer has strengthened marketing support, increasing trade-in bonuses to 200 thousand rubles, and also offered installments for 24 months and subsidized credit rates. Special emphasis is placed on the Solaris HC crossover — a restyled version of the Hyundai Creta, adapted to Russian roads and climate.
Experts note that the decline in demand for Chinese cars in the mass segment played in favor of Solaris. The brand, based on the platforms of the former popular Kia and Hyundai models, has retained its recognition, supplementing it with affordable service and warranty support. "Solar" crossovers and sedans are perceived as time-tested solutions, which has increased customer confidence.
The success of Solaris demonstrates the potential of localized production in the context of import substitution. The revival of the platforms of the departed Korean brands helps to fill the niche that has formed after the sanctions and reduce dependence on Asian suppliers.
