In the future, the BMD-4M airborne combat vehicle may receive a new 30-mm cannon with airburst ammunition to combat drones. This was announced by the High-Precision Complexes holding (part of the Rostec State Corporation).
In the future, there is a development of a new 30-millimeter cannon. The issue of its use for combating drones is being considered - it is supposed to hit them with airburst ammunition. It all depends on the sight and its ability to track all elevation angles.
The developers are also considering the possibility of introducing an active protection system (APS) against drones into the BMD-4M. At the moment, there are no such technologies on the combat vehicle, this is due to a number of design limitations.
We are working on creating specifically such systems that could be implemented. We need simple and effective systems that are optimal in terms of "price-quality" ratio, which are capable of working against UAVs.
The active protection system is capable of accurately destroying shells approaching the equipment with special ammunition. Threats are detected by a radar station.
