The BMD-4M airborne combat vehicle may in the future receive a new 30mm gun with remotely detonated shells to combat drones. This was reported by the High-Precision Systems holding (part of the Rostec State Corporation).
In the future, there is a development of a new 30-millimeter gun. The issue of its use for combating drones is being considered — it is assumed to hit them with remotely detonated shells. It all depends on the sight and its ability to track all elevation angles.
The developers are also considering the possibility of introducing an active protection system (APS) against drones into the BMD-4M. Currently, there are no such technologies on the combat vehicle, which is due to a number of design limitations.
We are working on creating specifically such systems that could be implemented. We need simple and effective systems that are optimal in terms of "price-quality" ratio, which are capable of working against UAVs.
The active protection system is capable of accurately destroying projectiles approaching the vehicle with special ammunition. Threats are detected by a radar station.
