Россия увеличит производство электроэнергии на 42% к 2050 году

The Russian government is betting on renewable sources and a transition to domestic technologies

In Russia, electricity production will increase by 42% by 2050 compared to 2023 — from 1.15 to 1.64 trillion kilowatt-hours. This increase is provided for by the new energy strategy approved by the government.

The growth will be gradual: by 2030, the increase will be 16%, by 2036 — another 5.4%, and by 2050 another 16.7% will be added.

The main emphasis is on the development of renewable energy sources. Their contribution by 2050 should increase more than five times. The production of hydroelectric power plants will also increase — by 17%. Special attention is paid to thermal power plants: they will be modernized, automated and equipment updated to increase the overall efficiency of production.

One of the key points of the strategy is the transition to domestic technologies. This is necessary to reduce dependence on imports and increase the stability of the energy system. All these measures are aimed at ensuring a stable supply of electricity in the context of economic growth and demand.
