Sales of the Lada Niva Sport started just 10 days ago, but acquiring the car has not been easy. Dealers are taking pre-orders, and buyers are placed on a waiting list.
Insiders have revealed that one of the reasons for the shortage of cars is the upcoming relocation of equipment used for assembling the "sporty Niva" from the main AvtoVAZ plant to the subsidiary "VIS-Avto."
The body welding area for the Niva Sport at the main AvtoVAZ plant is being prepared for relocation to the "VIS-Avto" site. Currently, the finishing of welded bodies continues in two shifts, and a certain backlog is already accumulating. However, during the May holidays, all equipment will be moved to the new location. From this point on, welding and painting of bodies for Niva Sport, intended for deliveries to Lada Sport, will be carried out at the subsidiary, not at the main AvtoVAZ site. The full launch of the production process is expected only at the beginning of summer.
As a reminder, the Lada Niva Sport is equipped with a 122-horsepower 1.6-liter engine from the Lada Granta Sport. Currently, the SUV is offered in a single configuration at a price of 1.7 million rubles.
