The First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Control, Dmitry Gusev ("Fair Russia - For Truth"), sent an appeal to the Head of the Central Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, with a proposal to issue a commemorative coin depicting the Russian Oreshnik missile system.
The letter states that on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet people's Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the liberation of Europe from Nazism, it is advisable to put such a coin into circulation. The deputy emphasized that the connection between modern weapons and the anniversary of Victory is explained by the development of military science and the continuation of the traditions of strategic defense laid down in the Soviet period.
Gusev also noted that the issuance of commemorative coins contributes to the popularization of achievements in the military-technical sphere, increases citizens' interest in progress in this area, and strengthens traditional moral values. He added that the memory of the war is not only history, but also a modern shield, and the image of "Oreshnik" on the coin symbolizes the continuity of the traditions of protecting the Motherland through new technologies. According to him, this will become a bridge between the heroes of the past and the engineers of the future, and will also strengthen patriotism, demonstrating the unity of eras through the perception of the coin by citizens.
