The Russian Navy has new search and assault groups on helicopters, protecting naval bases from attacks by unmanned boats (BEC). The groups are staffed by military personnel from the fleet's anti-sabotage forces and assets.
The groups include sailors and officers from anti-sabotage forces and assets (PDSS) units. Each group has two machine gunners and one safety observer.
The main armament is 7.62 mm caliber machine guns. Experience gained in the fight against unmanned boats (BEC) has shown that this weapon is sufficient to destroy or at least stop a sea "kamikaze".
The groups operate on Ka-27, Ka-29, and Mi-8 helicopters - they must meet and destroy BECs on the distant approaches to naval bases.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a Varan-3 kamikaze bomber drone has been developed for the military, the first test footage has appeared.
