Since the beginning of this year, AvtoVAZ has been less likely to involve employees in weekend work, according to Sergey Zaitsev, chairman of the primary trade union organization.
Earlier on Friday, Telegram channels reported that AvtoVAZ was allegedly planning to halt operations at the Togliatti plant due to falling sales and overproduction in warehouses. AvtoVAZ's press service stated that the company is capable of maintaining financial stability even with sharp changes in demand. No additional production stoppages are currently planned, and employees can expect a traditional corporate vacation in May.
The amount of work on weekends has been reduced since this year. It is clear that last year, every weekend, every Saturday, the plant involved (employees - ed. note) in work. Now they are sometimes involved once or twice a month. There is a volume of goods waiting for its buyer. If we have cars, why would we bring in additional employees every weekend?
Car sales have fallen compared to last year's figures, according to Zaitsev. He noted that there is usually a decrease in demand for cars in winter, which is typical for automakers around the world.
Now that the roads are clear, we expect sales to rise slightly.
Earlier, AvtoVAZ announced the release of a new batch of Lada Niva Legend SUVs in a stunning dark blue metallic "Captain" shade. It included about 20–25 cars.
