Cosmonaut Ivan Vagner, who is currently working on the International Space Station, shared unusual photographs of the aurora borealis, which he saw over the southern latitudes of our planet. This amazing natural phenomenon, which can usually only be observed in polar regions, became a pleasant surprise for Vagner in honor of his 400th day in space.
From the ISS, the cosmonaut was able to see a mesmerizing sight that opens up before dawn.
It shone especially brightly in the area known as the Brazilian Magnetic Anomaly. In this region, the Earth's magnetic field is weakened, making it more vulnerable to the effects of the solar wind, which causes auroras.
