МТС запускает «Умный СМС-Фильтр» для защиты от спама

New neural network-based service selects only important messages

Telecom operator MTS has introduced an innovative "Smart SMS Filter" feature, available in the Membrana application. The service uses semantic text analysis to automatically recognize and block unwanted advertising, including messages about discounts and promotions. As a result, users receive only important SMS messages from companies and government agencies.

The "Smart SMS Filter" differs from traditional filters that block messages by sender number. It combines text analysis using artificial intelligence and sender address verification.

After receiving a message at the MTS SMS center, it is sent to the Membrana platform. If the message is sent from a short or alphabetic number, the system analyzes its content and decides whether to block it or pass it on to the user. At the same time, messages from regular numbers are not filtered.

The development of the machine learning model took several months and required the analysis of 18,000 messages. According to the developers, the proportion of false positive errors is less than 1%, and false negative errors is 8%.

The service is currently available to subscribers in Moscow and the Moscow region, and its cost is 1900 rubles per month. In the near future, the "Smart SMS Filter" will be available to all MTS users.
