Russian bus manufacturer Likinsky Bus Plant (LiAZ) has abandoned Chinese engines. The manufacturer has completely switched to domestic units from the Yaroslavl Motor Plant (YaMZ).
Gas versions of buses were previously equipped with Chinese Weichai engines, but now there is an alternative in the form of "turbo sixes" from the Yaroslavl Motor Plant.
The reason for "import substitution" is simple: purchasing Weichai may become economically impractical due to sanctions. At the same time, modifications with Weichai are still on the official website of the GAZ Group — a 7.47-liter unit, which in a diesel configuration develops 292 hp and 1250 Nm, and on natural gas produces 269 hp and 1100 Nm.
An alternative would be the YaMZ-536 with a volume of 6.65 liters for 285 hp with a torque of 1130 Nm, regardless of the type of fuel.
