Mining Allowed in Russia Using Own Generation in Any Region

Mining in any region is allowed using equipment not connected to the country's Unified Energy System

The Russian government has relaxed the ban on cryptocurrency mining in regions where it was previously completely prohibited.

Now, digital assets can be mined, but only when using their own electricity generation.

According to the decree, mining in regions with a ban must be carried out with energy that does not come from the Unified Energy System of Russia. In addition, regulatory approval is required.

Mining has been legalized in Russia since November 1, 2024, but restrictions apply in 13 regions: a complete ban in 10 and a partial ban in 3. The restrictions extend until March 2031 and apply, in particular, to Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, Chechnya, the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye, and Kherson regions.
