RKN to Check Telecom Operators for Foreign Servers

The study will help strengthen the security and stability of the infrastructure

RKN is launching an important study aimed at assessing the dependence of Russian services on foreign infrastructure.

The Center for Monitoring and Management of the Public Communication Network (TsMU SSOP), which is subordinate to Roskomnadzor, will soon conduct scheduled inspections of Russian telecom operators. Over the next month, experts will analyze the extent to which Russian telecom operators and services rely on foreign servers.

The press service of RKN explained that such studies are necessary to develop measures aimed at "improving the stability and security" of domestic services. RKN attributes this work to solving a broader problem of ensuring the country's network sovereignty.

Note that a recent survey by VTB Bank showed that 60% of employees of large Russian companies support the rejection of foreign software. At the same time, about 70% of respondents already use domestic solutions in their work.
