For the Russian Next-Generation Spacecraft: Autonomous Tests of the "Sokol-M" Spacesuit Completed

The next tests of the spacesuit will be conducted jointly with RSC Energia

Tests of the "Sokol-M" spacesuit have been completed. It was developed by NPP Zvezda for cosmonauts of the next-generation manned transport spacecraft. This was announced by the company's General Director, Sergei Pozdnyakov.

There are several stages of development for the "Sokol-M", as required by all current regulations. The spacesuit has passed the so-called stage of autonomous testing. These are tests that the developer conducts themselves and tests the product on their own.

The next stage of testing the spacesuit will be conducted with the Rocket and Space Corporation Energia (part of the Roscosmos State Corporation), including inside the spacecraft.

Autonomous tests were just the beginning of the spacesuit's verification process. Official tests are still ahead, and their timing has not yet been determined.

According to Pozdnyakov, the company has not yet started producing several spacesuits. The delay is due to the reorientation of NPP Zvezda's capacities.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that Roscosmos presented the new Orlan-MKS No. 6 spacesuit.
