Russia Transfers New Mi-17V-5 Helicopter to Laos

The rotorcraft will be used for government transportation

The Lao People's Armed Forces have received a new Mi-17V-5 helicopter from Russia, according to the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST).

The aircraft was photographed being ferried through China on August 22, 2024. The rotorcraft, with tail number RDPL-34148, was built by the Kazan Helicopter Plant.

Presumably, the helicopter is intended for government transportation.

The Mi-17 is a development of the Mi-8 helicopter with two TVZ-117MT engines and a take-off power of 1400kW each. The helicopter was first shown at an exhibition in Paris in 1981.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that Su-30SM2 fighters and Su-24M bombers practiced strikes against warships in the Baltic Sea.
