The personal mobility device (PMD) rental season has officially launched in Moscow. This is the eighth season for scooter rentals and the thirteenth for bicycle rentals, according to the Moscow Department of Transportation.
Muscovites and visitors to the capital can now use 60,000 electric scooters and over 20,000 bicycles. The popularity of these modes of transport continues to grow each year. The Moscow Department of Transportation noted that 85% of trips are made in accordance with the transport scenario.
From 2025, scooter rentals in the capital will only be available after verification via Mos ID. This innovation aims to prevent the use of rental services by children and adolescents, as well as to speed up the process of identifying traffic offenders.
Today, 350 slow zones have been organized in the capital near metro stations, MCD, MCC, parks and public transport stops. From the beginning of the season, all electric scooters and bicycles of operators will be equipped with new enlarged numbers, which will be integrated into their design. This will simplify the identification of offenders.
This year, the season opens a week earlier, thanks to the arrival of the climatic spring. However, in the event of precipitation or a return of negative temperatures, rental services may be suspended until weather conditions improve.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Yandex unveiled a new generation of scooters.
