The rental season for personal mobility devices (PMD) has officially launched in Moscow. This is the eighth season for scooter rentals and the thirteenth for bicycle rentals, according to the Moscow Department of Transportation's press service.
Muscovites and visitors can now use 60,000 electric scooters and over 20,000 bicycles. The popularity of these modes of transport continues to grow each year. The Moscow Department of Transportation noted that 85% of trips are made in accordance with the transportation scenario.
From 2025, scooter rentals in the capital will only be available after verification via Mos ID. This innovation aims to prevent the use of rental services by children and adolescents, as well as to speed up the process of identifying traffic violators.
Today, 350 slow zones have been organized in the capital near metro stations, MCD, MCC, parks, and public transport stops. From the beginning of the season, all electric scooters and bicycles of operators will be equipped with new enlarged numbers, which will be integrated into their design. This will simplify the identification of violators.
This year, the season opens a week earlier due to the arrival of the climatic spring. However, in the event of precipitation or a return of negative temperatures, rental services may be suspended until weather conditions improve.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that Yandex introduced a new generation of scooters.
