The range of the newest medium-range ballistic missile "Oreshnik" depends on two characteristics. This was stated by military expert and flight instructor Andrei Krasnoperov.
The flight range of the "Oreshnik" is regulated only by the weight and amount of warhead that the missile itself carries.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the temperature on the warheads of the "Oreshnik" missiles is comparable to the temperature on the surface of the Sun.
According to the data from the portal «Объясняем.рф», the maximum range of the "Oreshnik" is 5,500 km. The missile is capable of carrying a warhead weighing up to 1.5 tons and reaching speeds of up to 10 Mach (about 12.4 thousand km/h). Putin emphasized that none of the existing anti-missile systems is capable of shooting down the "Oreshnik".
