Footage of an American mobile mock-up of the Russian Pantsir anti-aircraft missile and gun system has appeared online. Lockheed Martin is working with it.
The mock-up is designed to test software with the function of recognizing and classifying targets of the Sniper airborne targeting pod, used, for example, on F-16 and F-18 fighters. The targeting system with optoelectronic and IR equipment guides high-precision weapons to moving and stationary targets.
The self-propelled Pantsir SAM system is designed for close-range defense of civilian and military facilities, as well as for covering long-range air defense systems.
The Russian Armed Forces are represented by the Pantsir-S1 modification with a multi-channel target acquisition and tracking system. The complex is capable of hitting aerial targets at a distance of 200 m to 20 km, flying at speeds up to 1000 m/s.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the modernized BMP-2M also surpassed the American Bradley in firing range by two times.
