Russian scientists have created a prototype of the first reusable satellite designed to collect, transport, and dispose of space debris in orbit, the National Technology Initiative press service reported.

It is planned that it will help solve the problem with orbital debris, as it is able to remove it precisely and safely, without creating new fragments. In addition, the transporter can move any objects in space, such as satellites between orbits, which will extend their service life.

The space transporter is actually a satellite for cleaning the orbit of space debris. At the moment, there are only eight such devices in the world. The uniqueness of our product is that the garbage collector is reusable.

The company is currently preparing for the first test launch of the spacecraft.

The waste collection process is carried out using a modular system and a grid that can withstand extremely high temperatures. When the modules detect debris, they separate, and the debris falls into the net.

One of the modules can return to Earth for maintenance, and the debris, as noted by the inventor of the device, will be burned in the atmosphere.
