Будьте осторожны с NFC: кражи денег через прикладывание карт к смартфонам становятся всё более распространёнными

Experts and bank representatives are sounding the alarm

In 2025, Russia is experiencing a sharp increase in fraud using bank cards related to NFC technology. According to Kaspersky Lab, the number of such crimes has doubled compared to 2024, and the total damage may exceed 100 million rubles.

Fraudsters use phishing applications disguised as legitimate banking apps to trick victims into tapping their cards to smartphones and entering PIN codes.

The scheme works as follows: attackers call potential victims, convincing them to install malicious applications. By tapping the card to the phone, the victim transmits data to fraudsters, who then use it to withdraw money from ATMs.

Experts warn that such schemes are becoming increasingly popular amid sanctions, due to which legitimate banking applications are disappearing from stores.

Banks are trying to combat this problem by introducing monitoring and blocking systems for suspicious transactions. IT specialists emphasize that the main protection lies with the users themselves. They are advised not to install applications from links from strangers, not to transfer card data, and to set limits on transactions. In case of theft, it is necessary to immediately block the card and contact law enforcement agencies.
