Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies will help develop the infrastructure of 6G networks in the 2030s. This opinion was expressed by Alexey Frolov, an expert at the Center of Competencies of the National Technological Initiative (NTI) "Technologies of Wireless Communication and the Internet of Things".
According to the expert, 6G and highly distributed embedded AI will complement each other and become inseparable technologies.
In the 2030s, almost any device with a battery will be connected to the 6G network and will carry elements of artificial intelligence.
He explained that AI will move from cloud services to edge computing resources that are included in the network device. The neural network will solve learning and forecasting tasks within the framework of models embedded in electronic devices.
6G can be described as follows: peak data transfer rate up to 1 Tbit/s, the delay in user applications will be 40 times less than in 5G.
Scientists are currently conducting research in the field of 6G. Serial equipment based on sixth-generation networks will appear at the turn of the 2030s, Frolov suggested.
He noted that the primary task for developers of 6G systems is to reduce the energy consumption of devices. Existing signal detection and decoding algorithms cannot be used.
When transmitting information at a speed of 1 Tbit/s, electronic devices will overheat. That is why scientists are creating new energy-efficient algorithms, the expert summarized.
