Russian military personnel have equipped a T-72B3 tank with an intricate anti-drone protection system consisting of a frame and metal sheets. Grenade launchers of the 902B "Tucha" system can be seen on the outer grid of the "cope cage". The video was shown by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
The protection provides the tank with defense against kamikaze drones, but significantly limits its combat potential due to the reduction in the turret's turning radius.
The AEK-902 "Tucha" system is a Soviet unified system for launching 81-mm smoke grenades from armored vehicles. The launching device is an 81-mm smooth-bore grenade launcher-mortar weighing 1.35 kg with a barrel length of 270 mm.
The total weight of the system of six mortars with mounts is 10.4 kg empty and 24.5 kg equipped. 81-mm smoke grenades 3D6, 3D6M and 3D17 with a length of 220 mm and a weight of 2.34 kg are used as ammunition. The range of grenade launch is about 300 m.
