How Artificial Intelligence Will Develop in Russia: Experts Predict for 2025

AI market growth and new technology trends expected

Significant development of artificial intelligence is expected in Russia this year. This forecast was given by industry experts. According to their estimates, the AI market may reach 1 trillion rubles. This is comparable to the income from wheat exports.

The main industries using AI are finance, media and education. Experts believe that the state will focus on the use of AI in security and in smart cities. Business will actively implement generative AI for automation and the development of new products.

The priorities for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) by the state will be focused on the defense complex, public services and the fight against fraud, according to Ruslan Permyakov, Deputy Director of the NTI Center of Competencies "Technologies of Trusted Interaction" based at TUSUR.

According to experts, key areas will also be agriculture, as well as the continuation and increase of investment in medicine and cybersecurity.

How much business has invested in AI development

The Fintech Association has calculated that over the past ten years, leading companies in Russia have invested at least 650 billion rubles in artificial intelligence (AI). By mid-2023, 95% of organizations had already integrated AI technologies into their core processes.

Accurate data on the size of the Russian AI market for 2024 is not yet available, but Fintezh believes that it may amount to about 780 billion rubles, taking into account growth of at least 30%. The Russian government expects the AI market to reach 1 trillion rubles by 2025.

Despite lagging behind world leaders, Russia has the potential to achieve pinpoint leadership in certain AI segments, which requires active international cooperation and internal development.
