The Russian developer and manufacturer of communication, broadcasting, navigation and geodetic satellites "RESHEТNEV" has begun ground testing of the communication protocols of the first Marathon spacecraft. It will be included in the orbital group of satellites for providing the Internet of Things "Marathon IoT".
Specialists conducted a series of ground communication sessions of the experimental Marathon satellite with Russian-developed subscriber terminals. During the tests, the spacecraft exchanged signals with user equipment.
The press service of the company "RESHEТNEV" explained that the data transmission system "Marathon IoT" will also provide consumers with aeronautical information about aircraft, and will help to control unmanned aircraft systems.
About the «Marathon IoT» group
An orbital group of more than 250 satellites for providing Internet of Things services will be created as part of the «Sphere» program. Spacecraft will be placed in 12 orbital planes at an altitude of almost 750 km. «RESHEТNEV» will launch 5 satellites in 2025, and 44 the following year.
